Show and Tell

(Vintage Jacket // T-shirt by Whistles // Vintage Denim Cut-Offs // Boots by Poetic License // Necklace by Kenneth Jay Lane // Vintage Ring)

Marissa over at Transpire to Inspire took these pics of Bambam a few weeks ago, and with nothing really to say about them (I gather by now that you've figured out that I like to yak..?) they got left in a lonely file.
Well, luckily for them, I now have THREE random points to make from these images:
1) I have a magpie that sits on my window ledge, staring in at this necklace hanging from my wall. I'm not kidding and I'm quite concerned he's going to attempt to make a break for it. He has already successfully stolen a light and shiny ashtray from my ledge so, clearly, he knows what he's doing. Actually, whilst we're on the topic of this necklace - I feel so much like a Town Mayor whenever I put it on, it makes me rock an important persons swagger. Very amusing to watch.
2) How exciting is it that it's almost time now to rock cut-offs bare legged? I quite literally spent almost everyday last summer in this particular pair, come rain or shine. As long as it's a muggy 16 degree C I'm happy and free in my shorts. I did wear a knee-length dress bare legged yesterday which was the first time this year my poor legs have been exposed to the world. The legs loved it, so did the world. Girls smiled at me for my braveness, boys smiled at me because they will always be perverts, old people smiled at me for my bare-legged youthfulness.
3) I am completely cuckoo for this peachy/coral colour of my vintage jackets at the moment. Having recently started a new job as a Style Consultant in Whistles I had to pick my uniform. Suffice to say, my uniform pickings were purely peach and coral shades due to my obsession. Meaning, the 3 days a week I head to work, I am having to rock double dessert shades. Everyone keeps banging on about double denim, but those in the know amongst us are aware that double pastels, double nudes and double 'dessert' colours are actually the way forward this season. Trust me. Who wants to look like a cowgirl when you could look like a candy stripper?

The Perfect Blouse

I am beyond in love with this Pringle 1815 blouse featured in yesterdays Sunday Times Style, available from My-Wardrobe.com. Pringle 1815 happens to be my favourite designer diffusion brand anyway, and the last couple of years have seen me grow an unhealthy obsession with blouses. Just imagining the multiple ways of wearing it (rolled up boyfriend jeans, washed-out cut-offs, peg-legs, tailored cigarette pants, tucked into skater skirts, bodycon skirts... the list is endless) causes me much excitement.

Come pay day I'm not sure I'll be able to resist the temptation. To be honest, with such a beautiful item, I'm not sure that I should resist.

Oh, Elle!

Monday morning the new May issue of Elle popped through my front door. That in itself was a nice surprise as it was a few days earlier than normal, but today, upon finding time to complete my cover-to-cover devour, I was in for an even nicer surprise. This stunningly beautiful and unique shoot entitled 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', styled by Anne Marie Curtis and photographed by Erique Badulescu.
I have been a Team Elle advocate for a good few years now, but even I have to admit the quality and originality of their editorials can vary hugely month to month. I love them in spite of this, so it always feels like an exciting present when I find one that blows me away.
Absolutely delish, don't you agree?

Hi-top Aversion Therapy

So, something weird has been happening... I've been lusting after a pair of hi-top trainers for a while now. I thought this phase would pass, but no.
In case you haven't got to know me yet, I am more your typical heels girl. The only pair of trainers I've owned in about 6 years are my Stella McCartney for Adidas running shoes -which, incidentally, have only hit the pavement a grand total of... once. Yep, fitness is not my forte. Neither is walking in flat shoes. Nor looking in any way 'street'. So the logic behind my desire is somewhat hazy, even to me. Try as I might I can find no explanation, but the lust is still there...
To the extent where, unable to sleep this evening (damn clock changing... although on that note, wasn't it nice to have a longer evening today!??? Mmmm, yes, delightful) I thought I would play on Nike ID and design myself a hideous pair of Bambam Chic high-tops. Like aversion therapy. I think it may have worked, in which case - hazzah! I blame the black/pink/white combo on reminding me too much of my first pair of Etnies, circa 1998.
Hideous, non?

AA Loving

Good news from the fashion gods who are obviously aware that I'm broke but gagging for some new garms...

Oh yes, you read right. How exciting, eh??
And just to get your juices flowing some more, I thought I'd include some of American Apparels finest pornographic adverts for you to feast your eyes on...

Tasty, non?
See you there x

Boutique Temptation

This article over at Topshops' Inside Out Blog drew my attention to their new Boutique collection and accompanying shoot. I've been on a self-imposed Topshop strike since the start of 2010 for reasons I shan't go into here. However, I thought I'd come this far to be stronger and wiser and no longer fall for them. Turns out, I'm not as strong as I thought. This lookbook imagery and the garments themselves have made me weak at the knee's...

Sad times, because Bambam is a stubborn little one, who will refuse to break her strike, even for the love of clothes.
Hmmmm. What's a girl to do?

Ladybug Love

I am beyond excited... Today, for the first time in months and months, I left the house in just a blouse.
Isn't that a marvelous thing??
Spring has been teasing us the past few days, and despite being grey today, it's so humid I could jump around in happiness and cheer.
God, I'm British, talking about the weather. Oh well.

Aggy Chic

Interesting...
Vogue.com has just presented Agyness Deyn's new collection with Barneys Green in Japan. Although some of her punky aesthetic shines through, it's so much more subtle and classic than I would have envisaged. I am really quite taken by these few bits. Hmmm... really quite yummy.

Bonnie Parker

Yes, yes... I remember that only a few days ago I was hailing Penny Lane from Almost Famous as my current style crush. Well, Bambam can be a fickle little one sometimes, as proven by my now worshipping at the feet of Faye Dunaway in character as Bonnie Parker from Bonnie and Clyde. A few years after my last viewing and having gathered much dust whilst sitting untouched in my DVD collection, I spent this evening curled up to the classic love story, swooning over Miss Bonnie Parker.
Whilst I was unsure the other day whether I'd be able to pull off 70's groupie style, I'm even less convinced that I'd be able to rock Dunaways immaculate depression era chic...
Here's to dreaming.

G'day Ebay

Aussie babe and live journal 'celebrity' Liz aka MilkDoll is cleaning out her closet and there are certainly some gems to be had. Not sure how much international delivery will cost but bidding in Aussie dollars may lessen the pain.
Check out her Ebay store here.

The Fragile Issue

New Fashion156 offerings available now.
Absolutely cuckoo over this editorial, and pretty much everything else they have to say in the Fragile Issue.
Good way to spend a poorly Sunday.
Fact.

Penny Lane Please

Having recently rediscovered the beautiful film Almost Famous, my fashion daydreams are firmly concentrated on floating around in 70s hippy chic. Whether or not bambam could pull it off remains to be seen, a girl can but dream...

Kate Hudson playing 'bandaid' (aka groupie) in Almost Famous
Delish.
